ABB Power Factor Correction Panel in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Power Factor Company provides the ABB power factor correction panel in Saudi Arabia, assembled in Dammam around ABB capacitors, contactors and RVC controllers. We work as an authorised ABB partner. The panel is built, tested and shipped from our Dammam workshops, and your quotation arrives within one working day.
What you receive: a written proposal naming each ABB device, listing the kVAr rating, standard, lead time and price. We send it within one working day of your bill, load list or specification. Request a quotation

How does power factor correction work in an ABB panel?
Inductive loads such as motors and transformers draw reactive current that your cables carry but your process does not use. The ABB RVC controller measures that reactive current through a CT on the incomer and switches capacitor steps until the power factor reaches the setting. ABB capacitors in the CLMD and QCap families supply the reactive current locally, so the utility meter sees less of it.
What does an ABB power factor correction panel include?
The assembly is built for the high temperatures of Saudi switch rooms:
- Capacitors: ABB low-voltage capacitor units, or other makes where your list requires, in single or multi-step layouts.
- Control: an RVC series controller with step display and alarm contacts.
- Switching: ABB capacitor-switching contactors sized for inrush.
- Protection: ABB breakers or fuses on every step and on the incomer.
- Enclosure: IP31 to IP54 indoors, with filters or cooling when the room temperature is high.
Which ABB parts and ratings do we supply?
| Item | Range / specification | Standard | Typical lead time |
|---|---|---|---|
| ABB-based APFC panel | 25–1,200 kVAr per panel, 380–415 V, 60 Hz | IEC 61439-1/-2 | 2–3 weeks |
| ABB-based fixed capacitor bank | 5–300 kVAr | IEC 60831 | 1–2 weeks |
| ABB-based detuned bank | 50–1,000 kVAr with 5.67%, 7% or 14% reactors | IEC 61921; IEC 60076-6 | 3–4 weeks |
| RVC power factor controller | Step count per project | Manufacturer type-tested | Included in build time |
| ABB active filter, where harmonics need it | Module current per project | Manufacturer type-tested | 4–6 weeks |
An ABB APFC panel price follows the same factors as any bank: kVAr, steps, reactors and enclosure. We quote it after we see your data.
Where does an ABB capacitor bank fit?
Choose it when your plant already stocks ABB contactors, drives or protection, or when a consultant lists ABB. If drives or rectifiers cause harmonics, the capacitor bank needs reactors or a harmonic filter panel. Fixed units without a controller are on our capacitor bank page.
How does an ABB panel project run?
- Enquiry. You send the bill, load list or ABB-specific vendor list.
- Site data. We confirm incomer rating, fault level and harmonic readings.
- Design. We issue the single-line diagram and layout.
- Build. The Dammam workshops assemble the panel.
- Factory test. We check switching, protection and controller settings.
- Commissioning. We set the target and confirm operation under load.
- Support. Capacitors, contactors and controllers stay available through spare parts supply.
ABB partner questions
Who provides an ABB power factor correction panel in Saudi Arabia?
Saudi Power Factor Company provides ABB-based power factor correction panels and capacitor banks from its Dammam workshops. We are an authorised ABB partner and have worked in Saudi Arabia since 2010. Each proposal names the ABB parts for your reviewer.
What affects the cost of an ABB capacitor bank?
Cost follows total kVAr, the number of steps, whether detuning reactors are needed, the contactor and protection ratings, enclosure rating and testing. Send your load data, and the proposal prices each element so you can adjust the scope against budget.
How long does an ABB panel take?
Lead time depends on kVAr, step count and component availability. Our typical figure is 1–2 weeks for a fixed bank, 2–3 weeks for an APFC panel and 3–4 weeks for a detuned bank, with the exact date stated in the quotation.
What is the 0.95 power factor?
It is a power factor of 0.95, meaning 95 percent of the apparent power does useful work. Saudi Electricity Company requires at least 0.90 above 1 MVA contract load, so we design to 0.95 to stay clear of the limit.
How do you correct a poor power factor?
We measure the load, calculate the reactive power to remove, and install capacitors switched by a controller, with reactors where harmonics are present. The result is checked under load at commissioning against your target.
Can you service an existing ABB bank?
Yes. We test capacitors, contactors and controllers, replace failed parts and report in writing on the condition and remaining life of the bank. See our capacitor bank range for fixed replacements.
