Power factor correction in Dammam: what we deliver

Most Dammam enquiries fall into four packages, each priced from your own load data.

Package Typical use in Dammam Standard Typical lead time
APFC panel Factories and buildings with changing motor, chiller or compressor loads IEC 61439-1/-2 2–3 weeks
Fixed capacitor bank Single large motor or steady process load IEC 61921 / IEC 60831 1–2 weeks
Detuned panel or harmonic filter Sites with drives, UPS units or rectifiers IEC 61439-1/-2; IEEE 519 for harmonic limits 3–4 weeks
Power quality survey Unclear cause of a low power factor, tripping or overheating Logger to project specification mobilise within one working day

The range runs to project specification: APFC panels run from 25 to 1,200 kVAr per panel, larger loads in parallel sections. We build with ABB, Schneider Electric and Siemens components.

Can power factor correction save energy money?

It saves money in two ways. It removes power factor charges where your tariff applies them, and it cuts the reactive current that your cables and transformer carry, which frees capacity for new load. It does not change the kWh your motors use. Our page on the power factor penalty explains how a charge on the bill is built. Utility tariff rules are set by SEC. Under the Saudi Electricity Company tariff: 0.90 is the minimum above 1 MVA contract load; we design to 0.95.

What does 0.95 power factor mean?

A power factor of 0.95 means that 95% of the current your supply carries is doing useful work and the rest is reactive current. A plant at 0.75 carries more current for the same kW than a plant at 0.95, so correction also releases transformer headroom. The right target depends on your tariff and your load.

What is the process of power factor correction?

  1. You send your bill or a load list, or ask us to fit a logger.
  2. We read the demand and present power factor, and choose the equipment type.
  3. We issue drawings and a quotation.
  4. After approval, the panel is built in our Dammam workshops and tested.
  5. We deliver to your site and commission around your shutdown.
  6. You receive drawings and the test record, and we stay available for maintenance.

Where in Dammam do we work?

We work in the Dammam 1st, 2nd and 3rd Industrial Cities, the port and logistics areas, and the commercial districts. Typical loads are fabrication shops, warehouses and cold stores, food and packaging plants, water treatment works, hospitals and large buildings with chillers and lifts. Plants in Dhahran and the wider Eastern Province are served from the same workshops, and our Al Khobar page covers the neighbouring city.

Panels are built in our Dammam workshops, and a site visit starts from the same city. Site response in the Eastern Province is within one working day.

Why choose a Dammam workshop for your panel?

Saudi Power Factor Company has operated since 2010 and is approved by Saudi Aramco, SABIC and the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu. Our systems are certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. That means local production and a team close to your plant. The wider range is on our Saudi Arabia power factor correction hub.

Dammam power factor questions

Who provides power factor correction in Dammam?

Saudi Power Factor Company provides power factor correction in Dammam from its own Dammam base, covering design, panel manufacture, delivery and commissioning. We are approved by Saudi Aramco, SABIC and the Royal Commission, and have worked in Saudi Arabia since 2010.

What affects the cost of power factor correction in a Dammam plant?

The main factors are the kVAr required, whether the load is steady or changing, the presence of harmonics, the enclosure type and the number of steps. A survey adds cost but prevents mis-sizing, and your bill lets us price against your actual demand.

How long does power factor correction take?

Time depends on the equipment type, drawing approval and your shutdown window. Our typical lead time is 2–3 weeks for an APFC panel and 3–4 weeks for a detuned bank. A bill-based sizing can be returned within one working day, and commissioning on site is normally a short visit.

Is there a power factor correction company near me in Dammam?

Yes. Our office is on King Abdulaziz Street in Dammam and our workshops are in Dammam, so a Dammam, Al Khobar or Dhahran plant is a short trip for our engineers. Send your bill or message us.

Can you work with our consultant's specification?

Yes. We work from your consultant's single-line diagram and specification, answer it clause by clause, and hold the build until your consultant has approved our drawings and calculations, which keeps the design under their control.

What should I send for a quotation?

Send your most recent electricity bill, or a list of your motors and other loads with their kW ratings. A single-line diagram and the transformer rating are helpful, but we can begin without them and return a sized proposal.
